There are some herds of Megaloceros that stay around hot springs all year rather than going on an intense migrations. Herds of pregnant doe will retreat farther into areas known as fawning grounds in the late winter to early spring to safely give birth to their fawns. This is due to the animal being migratory, grazing in the open grasslands of the north during the summers with a lighter coat and retreating down closer to the Borealia- Centralia borders during the winter with a slightly heavier coating. The coating of Megaloceros is lighter compared to many animals of the Arctic Sector. Despite their over 3 meters long antlers, Megaloceros prefer to live in forested areas of the Arctic Sector as the many apex predators like Smilodon and bears will have a harder time fitting through dense woods. Unlike the saurian Parasaurolophus, Megaloceros has antlers to defend themselves from predators alongside digging up snow to access buried grass. Megaloceros are often seen as the Pasaurolophus of the Arctic Sector due to its lighter build and being a lower prey item in their ecosystems.
